Our Properties
Laborers’ Home Development Corporation (LHDC), an affiliate of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, Midwest Region, is a private, non-for-profit developer of quality affordable housing in secure and thriving communities. LHDC was established in 1972.
There are 14 developments and over 910 housing units across the Midwest. Of those 910 units, 242 are dedicated to independent senior living, 592 for families and 76 units of supportive living for seniors that need assistance.
We believe having an ample supply of affordable places to live fosters a host of economic benefits for communities and serves to heighten civic participation, increase public safety, and create a greater sense of community pride.
Strong neighborhoods exist where residents
- have quality housing
- are invested and engaged in their communities
- have access to transportation, employment and educational opportunities
- have a sense of safety and inclusion.
